The X-Pyr 2020 is cancelled

With great sadness, we would like to inform you that this year we will not be able to enjoy the adventures of the 45 brave teams that were going to cross the Pyrenees from coast to coast.

The X-Pyr 2020 is definitively cancelled.

This has been an extremely difficult decision. Our desire to run the race, meant we initially postponed, but now have to face the reality of the situation.

First of all we want to convey our apologies to all people related to the race for this cancellation.

The COVID-19 crisis has affected the X-Pyr 2020, but seeing the bigger picture, this is the least of the world's problems.

The economic situation that presents itself to us in the future is bleak. It could be the case that by the time of the race in some countries the health crisis is "resolved", but from the perspective of the organisation of the X-Pyr, we believe that it is not the time to carry out the race.

Our highest concern is the safety of the participants and staff and given the unclear future that lies ahead, we have had to make this painful decision.

The entire organising team has been eager to try to postpone the race. We also received a lot of support from the participants.

Our race director, Íñigo Redín, added this personal note:

"I want to thank everyone.

To the sponsors, for continuing to support our attempts to run the race, despite the current situation and to support the possibility of postponing the contest.
To the participating teams, who have shown a lot of solidarity with our attempt to change dates, despite how complicated it could be for some of them.
And to the X-Pyr staff themselves for supporting the race and being open to postponing the event in an almost unconditional way.

I hope that in the 2022 edition we can make up for everything that is happening in 2020.

So, see you at the X-Pyr 2022, with a renewed spirit. Trusting that, again, you are all there following us."
