What is your greatest sporting success?
Finishing the Gore Tex Transalpine Run, a 265km run across the alps.

When and why did you start paragliding?
Many of my friends are paraglider, so I had to make a decision. Should I run down the mountain or fly…? So, I started paragliding in 2014. One year later I finished my first national adventure race at the 4th place.

What is your mountaineering experience?
A huge number of 4000m peaks in the Alps, two times 6000m and the 7256m high Baruntse.
2017 I tried to climb and fly Mt. Manaslu, my first 8000m peak.

What does your typical training week consist of?
It’s a mix of outdoor and mountain sport, Ski touring, climbing, running and specially trail running in the mountains. The most time I’m carrying my paragliding equipment with me…
Definitely, I have to take every chance to fly and train in the air with the glider.

What are your best and worst sporting memories?
In my first season, after wrongly judging the weather conditions, I have to use the rescue parachute.
To be on the top of an 7000m+ summit. And to try my first 8000m summit, the Mt Manaslu. But after I failed two times very close to reach the summit, I could fly with the paraglider from the last high camp at 7400m from Mt Manaslu.
Nearly 30 kilometers, an impressive long glide with a 16m² mini wing.

Why did you choose X-Pyr?
I like this style of adventure, you have to do more than one decisions at nearly the same time and it’s not only about your physical strength. Everything is possible if your strategy is good.

Have you participated on X-Pyr before?
No, I think I’m the oldest Rookie ever 😀

Have you flown in the Pyrenees before?
No, I will come in spring to have some training in this wonderful area.

What will your strategy be during the race?
Flying far and fast and stay safe in the air. I hope I can always find good and safe launches very quickly.

What excites you most about X-Pyr?
The paragliding adventure in this beautiful landscape. To fly with eagles and vulture..

What scares you the most about the event?
Bad weather conditions, more or less not flyable weather. So that, that I must go always on the limits of my flying skills.

Why will she make a good assistant?
She is my partner for a long time now, we are flying and hiking together. She knows nearly every wish or need I have without losing many words, and she knows me if am angry and struggling with everything. Nobody else would handle it better.

I love her 🙂
