What is your greatest sporting success?
Solo crossing of the Alps is certainly up there with winning the New England Mountain Bike Championship and earning a 2nd black belt in Kung Fu.

When and why did you start paragliding?
I'm a hobby collector, although what started as a distraction has now become a big part of my life. I'm sure this sounds way too familiar for many reading this.

What is your mountaineering experience?
Hiking extensively through the French, Swiss, Austrian and Slovenian Alps as well as across the Pyrenees and around the area I currently live in (New England) and back in my home town (Monterrey, Mexico).

What does your typical training week consist of?
Fly as much as possible while doing a combination of exercises to increase strength, endurance and agility. These include various disciplines such as cross-fit, cycling, XC skiing, speed walks, running, hiking and martial arts.

What are your best and worst sporting memories?
Some of the best are certainly arriving in Tolmin after long journeys that started in Chamonix, France. Worst have to be a couple of occasions I was pretty sure I wasn't making it out unscathed while riding dirt bikes. Needless to say, I don't ride dirt bikes anymore.

Why did you choose X-Pyr?
During the last race (2016) I fell in love with the Pyrenees. Accessible yet still wild. Perfect combination for a hike & fly race.

Have you participated on X-Pyr before?
The 2016 race was a roller-coaster of emotions, ranging from pure bliss to great pain. Nonetheless, memories made were unforgettable, reason why we are giving it one more try!

Have you flown in the Pyrenees before?
Yes, during the 2016 X-Pyr.

What will your strategy be during the race?
Cool head for making the best decisions based on what the weather gives us, body ready to execute.

What excites you most about X-Pyr?
Seeing friends again, flying beautiful mountains, and competing against some of the best pilots in the world.

What scares you the most about the event?
Not enjoying the event (due to sickness, etc.).

Why will he/she make a good assistant?
Hector was my supporter for the 2016 race, so we already know each other very well (there will be no surprises!). He is very dedicated and I know I can trust him, which I think is the most important aspect to consider in a race such as this.

Anything else you like to comment?
Huge thanks to the organizers for making this race happen!
