INTERVIEW

What is your greatest sporting success?
As Messner said, each goal or succes lost his sound after I reach him, so till now I dont have something greatest behind me. Won Slovakian CrossCountry three times, it's nothing because just 250 pilots competing, be 12 at first H&F comp in my life with the almost heaviest backpack from all, nothing special I should be better, flown Slovakian CrossCountry triangle record ain't best, because it was possible to fly 20km more. My greatest success is to be here at X-Pyr.

When and why did you start paragliding?
In 1998 I was 6 years old, my dad bought first paraglider with 9 cells. Together with my older brother we learned for flying at small grassy hill. As I saw how older and adult pilots flying, I crossed my legs in the air, and I didnt care about anything else, just to be stylish or cool, for instance. So whitout piloting I landed in the midden.

What is your mountaineering experience?
I climbed almost every week this winter in High Tatras, not so difficult routes just around just UIIA 5 but I like it a lot. Be in the nature, in high altitude, just with the wind in ears, peace in soul and of course with freezing fingers!

What does your typical training week consist of?
I really like to move, to enjoy each day. If it's flyable I go to hike and fly, if it's so windy go to climb or run or hike for long distances. If i'ts hell outside I am climbing on boulder and dreaming of conquering the world by paraglider and my legs.

What are your best and worst sporting memories?
Each time I reach my goal I feel the best, it's plenty of good memories. But for the last year I think the best was feeling at Bornes to fly, when had enough altitude to just glide to goal. That feeling when your body is totally in pain you never feel and you know it's end. No more walking or running with heavy (13kg) backpack, no more pain, just soft bed and lot of food.
Worst? I dont have bad memories because in everything bad is something good. Maybe one should be, in thunderstorm at Transbalkan hike and fly, I knew I must climb as much as it's possible because I cant walk more, I must glide to finish. Lot of lightnings around, vario was silent from that strong climb in rain soIi was little bit afraid if I decided right. I made it, so my decision was right! 😀

Why did you choose X-Pyr?
Second thoughest hike and fly race in the world? It's enough reason! But also I want to explore world by hike and fly and I am also very competitive.

Have you participated on X-Pyr before?
No. I am rookie ?

Have you flown in the Pyrenees before?
No, it will be my first time, but I have plenty of free time, so I will come before race for some XPYRIENCE!

What will your strategy be during the race?
Catch the professionals in beggining and run like devil behind them, then fly like shadow behind them...then exhaust myself at finish sprint!

What excites you most about X-Pyr?
I really like moutains in each way and X-pyr is combination of hiking and flying in terrain I dont know... it really impressing me. Competing with other guys, especially with the most famous is like dream. Meet them in clear sporting battle with weather, endurance and tactic that exites me!

What scares you the most about the event?
Bad weather conditions with lot of walking and taking very big risk at flying.

Why will he make a good assistant?
In very hard situations he can help me to make it with humour, that's what my assistant makes better than others. But also he knows how to cook, make massage, read a metheorogical situation and place for land.
