What is your greatest sporting success?
1st place Crossalps Hochries 2008

When and why did you start paragliding?
I started paragliding in 1992, at the age of 16 years, in my hometown Kössen.
During my childhood I was fascinated by the idea of flying in the sky - my hometown Kössen and the big amount of paragliders in our region gave me the right idea to start it.
What is your mountaineering experience?
We are skitouring in winter and hiking with our wings in our region during spring and autumn. The sourrounding mountains (Wilder Kaiser, Kitzbüheler Alpen) give us the right playground.
Apart from that we practise some climbing in our limestone climbing parks.
What does your typical training week consist of?
Since we were not sure if we are chosen for the competition, we have to think about that now 🙂
Hiking, Eating, Sleeping - repeat.
What are your best and worst sporting memories?
Best - my time in the Austrian biathlon team during and after my military service.
Worst - Actually I only have good memories related to sports, or at least I don't think about them.
Why did you choose X-Pyr?
I heard about this competition a lot in the past and hoped to participate once in my life. This form of challenge fascinated me, since I began to fly - Travelling with hiking and flying only.
Have you participated on X-Pyr before?
Have you flown in the Pyrenees before?
What will your strategy be during the race?
Getting in the air as high as possible and fly as far as we can.
What excites you most about X-Pyr?
The new enviroment, a new challenge, new mountains and new personal borders, that need to be crossed.
What scares you the most about the event?
Hiking a lot if the weather remains bad (rainy, cloudy, windy)...
Why will he make a good assistant?
Michael is flying on his own and will make sure that my motivation will not drop. He can launch before me and find out, if thermals are strong enough already.
Apart from that, he is driving a VW Bus himself, so at least he can handle our car / mobile home for the time of the event.
