INTERVIEW

What is your greatest sporting success?
One competition in the Pyrenees when I started last and ended up winning the task with an amazing flight.

When and why did you start paragliding?
I started paragliding in 1988. I like the magic and freedom of flying.

What is your mountaineering experience?
My experience in hiking in rather modest, but good in flying.

What does your typical training week consist of?
One training week for me consists of 3-4 days training.
I do muscle strengthening once a week.
I run 10/12 km twice or three times a week
I do a 600m climb as fast as I can.
And I fly as often as possible.

What are your best and worst sporting memories?
My best memories are those from the season when I was in La Reunion team, the training and all the competitions with and incredible team feeling. My worst memories are the dissapointments every time a competition was cancelled due to bad weather.

Why did you choose X-Pyr?
I had already planned to fly across the Pyrenees on my own, and a friend convinced me to register in the X-Pyr.

Have you participated on X-Pyr before?
No, it is my first time.

Have you flown in the Pyrenees before?
Yes, I live in the Basque country and I have made many flights in most areas along the chain of mountains (north and south), in competitions, cross country or flying with friends.

What will your strategy be during the race?
My strategy will be to keep a constant pace throughout the race.

What excites you most about X-Pyr?
The challenge and the adventure.

What scares you the most about the event?
Not to finish the race in time.

Why will he make a good assistant?
I chose Alex because he is an athletic sort of guy and very good with maps.

Anything else you like to comment?
See you at the start!!
