What is your greatest sporting success?
I have taken part in some alpine ski competitions, mountain races, several paragliding competitions and surfski treks, but I have always preferred to do my own thing. I like to be in the mountains, not to use them as a scenery to compete. I don’t like masses of people very much…
When and why did you start paragliding?
I started in 1995. I have dreamt about flying some kind of devize since I was little.
What is your mountaineering experience?
I have been training in the mountains all my life, all sorts of different disciplines. I started walking, then climbing, both rock and ice, and nowadays I do mainly mountain running and randonnée ski.
What does your typical training week consist of?
I try to do some activity at least 6 days a week: 3 or 4 are usually mountain running, the rest I alternate BTT, surfski, surf, paragliding…randonnée skiing during the winter and spring months. I don’t follow any training plan. I am driven by motivation and feelings.
What are your best and worst sporting memories?
There are many good ones, no particular peak or climb. I am fulfilled by nature and outdoor sports.
My worst memory was when I was buried by an avalanche during a trek in the Alps…although it is a master lecture about how small we are when facing nature.
Why does the X-Pyr interest you?
I am passionate about mountains and vivouac flying, and I like the ties created during this type of race. Competitions in general are tasks performed in a “controlled” environment that inspires confidence amongst the competitors. The X-Pyr is something else, each one of us will create our own race ourselves.
Have you flown in the Pyrenees before?
A few times…
What will your strategy be during the race?
I will always try to fly whenever conditions are to my liking
What excites you most about X-Pyr?
To move along a range of mountains that fascinate me, leaving kilometers behind and sharing one same objective with all the other teams.
What scares you the most about the event?
I take this rather philosophically, I try to see it as something to enjoy, not to worry about
Why will he make a good assistant?
Because he came with me in the previous edition and he knew how to stand by me in the most difficult moments.
